29.4.12 - Sonntag, Sunday
I posted a lot of blogs, that was most of my day. I might have done some homework if I hadn't finished it earlier. Added pictures to my computer, sorted through all of them, after all I had taken about 100 pictures of Schwetzigen alone... It was a major bum day, and I was a little stiff.
30.4.12 - Montag, Monday
I had planned to go to the school early that day to renew my Linear Algebra books, completely forgetting that I had received an e-mail saying that the library wouldn't be open until Wednesday. I decided that with all my extra time I would grab a bite to eat in the Mensa and then go waste time on a computer. Which really meant that I posted a blog, and attempted to get more pictures off of the Walgreens website from my aunt. It didn't help me much because I wasn't on my laptop and the quota on the school computer wasn't as gross as I would have wished it was. Hah, when I say "gross" I mean large, it's the German word for it...
My Linear Algebra class was pretty typical. Then after that was my Leseverstehen and Textproduktion. Reading Comprehension and Writing abilities. I don't feel very confident in my abilities on that one. The topic for the reading was about people who live in really old buildings or really expensive homes that the owners no longer live in, so that they can prevent others from living there and graffiti and what not while they try to sell it in the mean time. It was weird, interesting, but weird. The Writing ability part of the test was about online consumerism. I, unfortunately, was so anxious to get it all over with, I forgot to read the paragraph lead in about the top and only read the questions I was supposed to be answering. I'm not sure how it went after learning that.
Later that evening, Rachel and I decided we wanted to go out to eat somewhere and hang out for a while since the following day was the Tag der Arbeit, Day of Labor/ Labor Day, meaning we had no classes. She said she had been craving tacos for a long time so we decided to go to a place called Diablo's Tacos. I got a chicken taco and she got a pork taco. My goodness, they were great. It was really interesting how it was all put together. Instead of drizzling cheese on top it was melted into a strip and placed across the top of the soft shell taco that was grilled like a very thick quesadilla. Mmmm, that was amazing, and fairly cheap! If every we get tacos ago, it'll be from there. It was a cozy little place and the man was very kind. I didn't try any, but apparently they had some sauces that were a minimum of a habenero chili spicy and sauces well beyond law enforcement grade pepper spray. I get the name for the place now.
We came back to my place hung out and chatted about all sorts of things and may have watched a few things until like 3 in the morning. :)
Since it's 7 hours later than CST, people can keep up with me. [Side note, ignore the post dates. I'm trying to keep posts within their respective months of happening.]

83 - Schwetzigen
28.4.12 - Samstag, Saturday
I slept in as late as I wanted, which probably wasn't that late anyways. Ate blah blah. I had decided I wanted to go somewhere because the day was supposed to be absolutely beautiful. Sunny, warm, 26 degrees or so, which is around 80s. Unfortunately, Rachel didn't want to come, but that was alright, I should try traveling by myself sometime. I've heard that it's better that way. It was only supposed to be 30 minutes away, so it wasn't that big of a deal.
I arrived in Schwetzigen without an issue. However, when I arrived I was quite lost. I had no map, I couldn't find any maps online or anything, but I was at least able to follow the crowd to the main street, which had signs toward the tourist information booth. It was quite a trek aways, but I apparently made very good timing. After I received a map, I noticed the closing time was 13:00, and I probably got there 15 minutes prior.
Conveniently, there was a church across the way with a little ledge for me to sit on. I looked over the map, started circling things I wanted to see and deciding the best route. However, before I went anywhere, I had to go inside the church and take a few pictures. I was quite glad I had too. It was beautiful, as were all of the paintings on the ceiling. After taking a few pictures, I made my way back to the Schloss. Unfortunately, it was yet another castle/ place that was being renovated, so I don't actually know what the front of it looked like. Although, I suppose it wasn't really that important. It seemed like the important part of this castle was the garden, and judging by the map it was huge!
I had to pay to get in, but for the amount of time I spent there, the 2,50€ was worth it. The entire garden, was interesting because there was a lot of Greek statues and and general Greek feeling to the place. It was very pleasant. I probably walked around the garden and Schwetzigen for about 3 or so hours. I also got to see a large Moshee (Mosque) that laid within or just outside of the castle garden's ground. This garden even had a little bird sanctuary. I would probably go back if I had a chance, but I feel like going late spring was the best because everything was in bloom, including Lilac trees/ bushes, which seem to only bloom during a short period of time. It was nice seeing them, it reminded me of the one behind my house in Crystal Lake. I also so my first "black" rose in the garden, that was cool too.
After my long adventure, I came home and put my feet up. My gosh, that felt good. My body ached from walking somewhere around 8 hours. I think for the rest of the evening, I played Minecraft, I don't recall exactly.

( A little building area off to the side of the garden. | With a fountain behind it. | And a bath house that the king had. They made us wear soft slippers over our shoes to walk in it. )
(The roof of the bath house. | The beginning of the bird sanctuary and the "End of the World", the little picture at the end. | Some of the birds.)
(Some people were feeding the swans, and ran out of food. They weren't happy. | I think this is Poseidon hanging out on the water. | The Mosque.)
79 & 80 - Typical Days
24.4.12 - Dienstag, Tuesday
Pretty typical Tuesday.
Aside from me cooking my food delicious chicken while Tatiana was cooking for a few friends. They were all quite friendly. I forgot the name of the girl that chatted with me though, something starting with an S. When I told her I was studying Maschinenbau, she bowed and 'tipped her hat' to me with some sort of French saying. I was flattered.
Afterwards, I got to the school early, hopped on a computer, messed around, finally was able to look at some of the pictures that my aunt posted of our trip [I can't on my computer for some reason]. Unfortunately I can't download them all. Maybe I can try sometime in the future, we'll see what happens with that. After that, I went to class, pretty typical only girl in the Maschinenbau class day. I love that the professor/ doktor/ Ingeneur addresses the class as "Greetings my lady and gentlemen." I know it's correct, but I smile a little because I feel like it's just going to be painfully obvious every time now. Maybe it will convince someone to talk to me? Doubtful. Although, there may be hope one day. I heard a few guys talking about playing "Diablo", I knew exactly what they were talking about because, well. I was there, and did that. This may further my 'hope one day' point.
Class ended and we went home, I ate leftovers from lunch and probably did something of importance.
25.4.12 - Mittwoch, Wednesday
Classes went on as usual, nothing too special. Ate my lunch by myself because, unfortunately, Rachel was locked in a classroom. Apparently she fell asleep in an earlier class, and people just left her in there. Who knows, it was an unfortunate circumstance nevertheless.
Later in the day, a bunch of random people who I haven't talked to in a year-ish started messaging me on facebook to complain about their worlds. At least it kept me entertained for a little while. However, I was in the middle of blogging. :( Hah, ironic I suppose, I tend to do a bit of complaining on here too. Oh well. I had to skip watching Inception with Rachel that night because of my 8am class the following morning. I enjoy my sleep and figured it could wait.

77 & 78 - Studying for the Midterms & the Midterms
22.4.12 - Sonntag, Sunday
I managed to be in bed/ sleep for 10 hours, probably due to my lack of sleep from the last few days. That was a nice way to start the day off. I then needed to continue studying for my LAL (Lineare Algebra) and get the rest of my German homework done, after all I also had a Hoerverstandnis Zwischenklauser [Listening Comprehension Midterm]. After switching between the the two when I was too bored or unable to concentrate, I posted a blog, checked the weather [which was showing only fantastic things!], and probably studied more for my two midterms the following day.
23.4.12 - Montag, Monday
Got up at a some what reasonable time, ate, blah blah. I got to school early, looked over my notes some more. At 1:40, it was time for my midterm. It was in no way what I was expecting. When he said theoretical and a little bit of calculations, I wasn't expecting that. He said it would take a maximum of 40 minutes. It took me up to the last minute because I had to work a little slower, not knowing how to describe what I wanted to in German or fully understand the questions. For the first question, I felt like a fool [he went over the test right after we were done]. It asked for a "vektorprodukt", I was panicking a little because I could only remember "scalar" and "cross"product. Or maybe was scalar vektor? Anyways, I wrote down the definition of a scalar product perfectly, except my version of the test was asking for the cross product. [I knew I did it incorrectly correct because there were two versions of the test and he went over both]. That was 4/15 points off right there. *sigh*. The best part of all of this is that you only need 50% to pass and I was still in the upper ~30% of the class with a 60%. I dislike such small points on tests.
Right afterwards was my German test. I settled in, set up a sheet far better than I had for any of the practices and scribbled notes like nobody's business. I think I did pretty well on that one. I'm not sure when I will be receiving it back though because every Monday for the next few weeks (23.4, 30.4, and 9.5) would have different midterms, Reading and Writing and then Grammatik. I'm worried about the grammar, it's the hardest thing for me, and most people, it seems.
Later that night, I, of course, played more Diablo III until the Beta time expired, then went down to Rachel's for something or another.

76 - Heidelberg v. 2!
21.4.12 - Samstag, Saturday
I woke up probably earlier than I should have, but sometimes you can't help it after a few 8am classes. Most of the morning was spent killing time and waiting. Leif and I had decided to meet up, hang out and go to Heidelberg. Something kind of fun, and nicer looking than Mannheim. He said he would leave at 10 something and it would take a little over two hours, but with how everything worked out, we didn't see each other until a little after two. Wasn't a big deal, but it was some of the most boring three or so hours of my life because I was afraid to get too in depth into anything. It also had me wondering a lot about how the whole experience would go since I am really bad at talking to people I haven't talked to in a long time. I'd imagine it could be worse with him specifically because we had once dated. [For those of you who don't know him, we dated for a little over a year and a half and we haven't really spoken much for the past two years since then. He joined the army about 6+ months ago and was stationed in Germany about a month ago.]
Anyhow, we met up, which was no where near as awkward as my mind anticipated it to be, and hopped in his car to go to Heidelberg. As we were driving there, we got a little lost and it began to drizzle. We eventually got ourselves up to the castle area, parked and walked down to it. I showed him around a little and then we decided to actually go inside the castle, which I hadn't done before. It was a pretty nice place, they had lots of wine (barrels) and an apothecary museum. I think I heard somewhere that the larger barrel pictured, is one of the largest, if not the largest wine barrel still used today. I also found the Apothecary museum interesting because they attempted to use anything and everything to cure just as many things. Looking back, I almost felt like it was your classic "witch's house" with all the lizards and other random herbs and things. The only difference was the "high-tech" distillery objects and laboratory feel.
After our tour around the place, we decided to go wander around Altstadt (old town) a little bit. On our way down, I was able to snap a picture of [what I thought was] a very amusing sign. ACHTUNG! Froesche! Whilst wandering, we both were pretty hungry and decided to get some food. We ended up going to a good size cafe and he ordered Pasta Arrabiata [mm jalepen~os!]and I ordered a Ham and Cheese Flammkuchen. I figured his would be some sort of spicy pasta, but I had no idea what a Flammkuchen was. It turns out it's just a flat-bread pizza with creme fraiche instead of sauce. Today I learned.
After we exhausted most of things to see on this side of Heidelberg, we drove back to Mannheim trying to figure out what to do next. We probably chatted for half an hour until around 7, at which time we split and I either studied some for my Lineare Algebra Test or played some more Diablo III, both are possible.

(ACHTUNG! FROESHE!)
75 - Diablo III Beta
20.4.12 - Freitag, Friday
School, the usual. The Friday? Not quite so much. I found out that the game I have been waiting almost 11 years to be released was having a free Beta servers test. That basically means that they want to make sure that they can fix any last issues with the game and to make sure that their equipment will be able to handle a lot of playing the game at once. It was a little annoying because there were a lot of issues that night, so I didn't play quite as much as I would have hoped. Not to mention my internet was not functioning properly. Oh well, what can you do? It was a fun game and I probably played a little later than I should have. It makes me want the game even more, but, as with all new releases: the upfront cost is $60. That's a lot of money right now, so I'm not sure I can. At least the company was able to get a lot of kinks ironed out!

71-74 - Back to Reality
16.4.12 - Montag, Monday
It was a very good day to not have class until 1:40 because of how late we got back the night before, and I ended up sleeping for 10 hours. It was awesome. I went to class, same ole stuff, came home ate, checked my e-mail and saw some wonderful things. My sister and I were talking/ joking about me helping her build Neuschwanstein on Minecraft, and it turns out that she bought me the game! I was very happy and excited about that, after that I also recevied an e-mail from John Deere about all of my documents being in order and everything was working out. All I had to do was wait on my Aufenthaltstitel, which would allow me to reside and work here in Germany.
17.4.12 - Dienstag, Tuesday
I found out that ISU Financial Aid is severely decreasing my aid next year, so that's a nerve-racking. I don't know what I'll be doing about that. I also learned that my Goethe Insitut class will be able to be transferred back as credits for classes in the 200 level, which is useless because I've already completed four 300 level German classes and should technically already have credit since I've surpassed those classes. I'm also worried about that [next semester] too because I only have so much money and will only be receiving enough to live. We'll see how it all pans out, I'll just keep my fingers crossed/ Daumen gedrueckt.
A side note, I'm still very amused by my Dynamiks class because no one sits next to me.
18.4.12 - Mittwoch, Wednesday
More stress from the Financial Aid thing, at least I know why and how everything works now and I can't do anything about it other than finding tons of scholarships. At least I found out I don't have to worry about having to pay fees and things to ISU next semester while I work, which is a nice relief.
The day of classes wasn't so bad either, it was a little hard to wake up though since I had been staying up so late. I had also planned a little more with Leif about hanging out/ going to Heidelberg. It would be interesting since I haven't seen him for a little under two years. I wasn't sure how it would go, we'd see.
19.4.12 - Donnerstag, Thursday
Went to classes, came home, ate, and was finally fed up with my sink. It was just filled with stagnant water now, it wasn't even draining. It was gross. I noticed there was a screw in the middle of the drain, so I started unscrewing it and the water started leaking onto my floor. I quickly tightened it up and wasn't sure what I should do about it. After a bit of observation, I decided to empty out my trash and use my bucket to catch water; it seemed logical. I slid it under the sink and loosened the screw and waited for all of the water to drain. It took a little while and left lint and other things on the side. I used a rag and cleaned it up while I decided to do for next move. I figured I should jut pull out the whole screw and take a peek in the drain. That was the hardest part. Once I got the screw out, I saw that it was entwined with hair, gray sludge and various other things. It smelled too, I think, I couldn't tell if it was the garbage or the sink, but the garbage didn't smell before I went to work. After I pulled off everything around the screw, I dropped it in my bucket, took that to the toilet and flushed it away and dropped a long bobby pin in the garbage that was in the mass. This last bit may have been the most disturbing because the person who lived here before me was a guy, so who knows how long my sink was just waiting to plug up.
I put the sink back together, made sure all the connections between the seals were dry and ran the water. It drained perfectly. I was quite ecstatic! I had a functioning sink again! Rule 32: Enjoy the little things.

70 - Praha to Mannheim
15.4.12 - Sonntag, Sunday
Just as we had planned, mostly, we got ourselves to the castle/ church with a few intermittent stops in between for a few more pictures. I like pictures. It was quite a bit of a hike up to the castle because Prague is a little hilly, and it's a castle so it's going to be as high as possible, usually.
We get there, the castle itself wasn't really that impressive. What was, was the church. My God it was beautiful. Unfortunately, the lighting was really bad and it was drizzling so the lighting was really poor so the pictures didn't turn out so well, not to mention that a mass would be starting soon and I didn't want to disturb people with flash.
After wandering around a little bit, the mass started to begin. I snapped a few pictures, but we were then told not to, which I understand. Rachel and I decided to stay for a little bit, we still had a little bit of time before we needed to go back. It was amazing because all of the alter servers sounded like they were monks by the way they were singing as they entered, it was so beautiful, I wish I could have gotten a better recording of it all. We only got a very short one. It also gives you a better look around the church too.
We ended up arriving back a little too late for our train. We probably would have never caught it, looking back at the timing of everything. The next one was 1:30 or something rather than 12:45, not too bad.
We get to the Praha hl.n trainstation and realize that the next train wasn't until 2 something so we had about an hour to wait. We took turns wandering around and guarding the stuff. I got myself a delicious curry chicken sandwich, then she went to go look at postcards, and then I did. My goodness they were cheap cheap! I bought two small cards and a large card for .76€. Anyhow, we eventually got on our train, had an extremely short transfer and our train was running a little late. Fortunately, we only had to go from Gleis 7 to 6, which was just a short few steps away. Everything worked out, aside from getting home at like 1 in the morning.
