16.4.12 - Montag, Monday
It was a very good day to not have class until 1:40 because of how late we got back the night before, and I ended up sleeping for 10 hours. It was awesome. I went to class, same ole stuff, came home ate, checked my e-mail and saw some wonderful things. My sister and I were talking/ joking about me helping her build Neuschwanstein on Minecraft, and it turns out that she bought me the game! I was very happy and excited about that, after that I also recevied an e-mail from John Deere about all of my documents being in order and everything was working out. All I had to do was wait on my Aufenthaltstitel, which would allow me to reside and work here in Germany.
17.4.12 - Dienstag, Tuesday
I found out that ISU Financial Aid is severely decreasing my aid next year, so that's a nerve-racking. I don't know what I'll be doing about that. I also learned that my Goethe Insitut class will be able to be transferred back as credits for classes in the 200 level, which is useless because I've already completed four 300 level German classes and should technically already have credit since I've surpassed those classes. I'm also worried about that [next semester] too because I only have so much money and will only be receiving enough to live. We'll see how it all pans out, I'll just keep my fingers crossed/ Daumen gedrueckt.
A side note, I'm still very amused by my Dynamiks class because no one sits next to me.
18.4.12 - Mittwoch, Wednesday
More stress from the Financial Aid thing, at least I know why and how everything works now and I can't do anything about it other than finding tons of scholarships. At least I found out I don't have to worry about having to pay fees and things to ISU next semester while I work, which is a nice relief.
The day of classes wasn't so bad either, it was a little hard to wake up though since I had been staying up so late. I had also planned a little more with Leif about hanging out/ going to Heidelberg. It would be interesting since I haven't seen him for a little under two years. I wasn't sure how it would go, we'd see.
19.4.12 - Donnerstag, Thursday
Went to classes, came home, ate, and was finally fed up with my sink. It was just filled with stagnant water now, it wasn't even draining. It was gross. I noticed there was a screw in the middle of the drain, so I started unscrewing it and the water started leaking onto my floor. I quickly tightened it up and wasn't sure what I should do about it. After a bit of observation, I decided to empty out my trash and use my bucket to catch water; it seemed logical. I slid it under the sink and loosened the screw and waited for all of the water to drain. It took a little while and left lint and other things on the side. I used a rag and cleaned it up while I decided to do for next move. I figured I should jut pull out the whole screw and take a peek in the drain. That was the hardest part. Once I got the screw out, I saw that it was entwined with hair, gray sludge and various other things. It smelled too, I think, I couldn't tell if it was the garbage or the sink, but the garbage didn't smell before I went to work. After I pulled off everything around the screw, I dropped it in my bucket, took that to the toilet and flushed it away and dropped a long bobby pin in the garbage that was in the mass. This last bit may have been the most disturbing because the person who lived here before me was a guy, so who knows how long my sink was just waiting to plug up.
I put the sink back together, made sure all the connections between the seals were dry and ran the water. It drained perfectly. I was quite ecstatic! I had a functioning sink again! Rule 32: Enjoy the little things.
